What do you wish you knew when you first started your career?

The team at Forbes asked the classic question: What do you wish you knew when you first started?

My response: “Accept early on that you don’t know what you don’t know, so be intentional about seeking the perspectives of those who have been in your shoes before you. Appreciate constructive criticism—it will only make you a stronger professional. Oh, and that written piece that you think is perfect and ready to go? Look at it again with fresh eyes. Nine times out of 10, you’ll see something you missed.”
